The original version, found without the custom BiG patch & special bandana, was inspired by the Uguisu, a small green Japanese bird that is often heard more than it’s seen. Its distinctive song can be heard throughout Japan, signifying to many the beginnings of Spring.
To create a fabric that honored the Uguisu, Samurai Jeans worked with Shinya Mills, one of the most renowned mills in Japan. Together, they created 17oz. Uguisu selvedge using the “left-hand twill” technique. Through this process, the denim is left with rich slub consistency.
In addition to intricate detail such as Shogyo-Milo jacquard pocket bags and Iron Sakura buttons, we are honored to add the exclusive BiG thick cow leather patch featuring the New York skyline and 100% cotton bandana in replace of a flasher.
