In commemoration of Samurai's 25th anniversary, they created this special denim by dyeing both the warp and the weft in natural indigo. While both warp and weft threads are uneven and slubby, it’s the weft in particular that they injected with a little extra unevenness to give this denim a spectacular visual expression and hand feel.
On top of this they also employed threads that have different concentrations of dye in them, something they were able to control by how many times each thread was dipped during the dyeing process. The gorgeous indigo color created by the intersecting weaves of the warp and weft, combined with the overall slubby texture, make these a truly special pair of jeans.
The selvedge itself is also indigo with silver lame at its core. The pocket bags are done up in a unique check cloth that employs a combination of thread used for natural indigo dyeing and a sashiko fabric finished in a light “asagi” blue. The combination of all these uncompromising elements is something you need to see and feel to fully appreciate.
